DaVinciAT Robotics in Architecture Research Center
About the Center
DaVinciAT Robotics in Architecture Research Center works at the meeting point of architecture, robotics, and intelligent adaptive environments. Its research advances cyber-physical systems and non-humanoid social robotics for the built environment and for industry, with active work on adaptive human–space–robot interaction, meso- and macro-scale cyber-physical integration, smart materials and autonomous environments, and Human–AI–Robot Teaming (HART) for human-spatial coevolution. DaVinciAT Robotics Research Center's key projects include a US patent (17/395,847), an academic book entitled "Coexistence and Coevolution of Humans and Intelligent, Adaptive Environments" (Taylor & Francis, 2026), and an ongoing portfolio of physical research prototypes — iHE, iWEE, iLounge, LISA, and the iCabinet, among them.

About the Role
The iCabinet is a live research project at the Center, and it needs a careful front-end. We are looking for a UI/UX Design Intern to design and build the graphical interface through which users interact with the system. Your task is focused on the interface — its layout, its legibility, its feel in the hand, its rhythm of response. The hardware, control logic, and system integration had already been developed by DaVinciAT's engineering team.
You will build the interface in Qt (QML, Qt Design Studio). You will move from sketches to working screens, iterate against real hardware, and refine the experience through testing with users. The interface you produce will ship as part of a research prototype presented publicly and documented in academic publications.
