This immersive program is a collaboration between Alfaisal University’s Game Innovation Lab and Gen.G to delve into the intersection of business and esports, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the rapidly evolving gaming industry. Through a mix of historical insights, strategic business principles, and emerging industry trends, students will gain a deep understanding of how esports and gaming have become global powerhouses.

The course combines theory and hands-on learning, using real-world case studies from industry leaders like Nintendo and Blizzard Entertainment. Students will explore business fundamentals, market growth, and the social and global impact of gaming, developing critical thinking and strategic insights relevant to the esports ecosystem.

Weekly assignments will include diverse learning materials—books, articles, podcasts, videos, and case studies—providing unique industry insights beyond traditional coursework. The program culminates in a final project, where students will analyze global gaming trends, cultural influences, and business opportunities, crafting data-driven strategies for potential industry innovations.

This course is designed to empower future leaders in esports and gaming, offering a comprehensive, globally relevant education that bridges business acumen with the dynamic world of gaming.

 

  • Enrolled participants who pass this course will be eligible for a 3-8 weeks training program in summer 2025 at GenG company.

Current Role: Senior Product Manager – Esports World Cup, ESL FACEIT Group
Bio: Johannes Pfundmeier is a seasoned esports professional with over 6 years of experience across global gaming markets. Currently leading product initiatives for the Esports World Cup at ESL FACEIT Group, he has played a key role in launching world-first cross-game shows, managing high-level productions and coordinating multi-million dollar international projects.
He holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management and currently lectures in esports management at the University of Applied Management. Johannes brings an exceptional blend of strategic insight and real-world experience, making him an ideal instructor for aspiring esports professionals.
