Electric Vehicle Lab
Electric vehicles are currently replacing fossil-fuel operated vehicles, not just as cars but also in trains, ships, and soon in airplanes. Their study requires hands-on knowledge and development in electrical, mechanical, and software engineering fields.
The electric vehicles lab at AU-JSEC focuses on an ongoing Boeing-funded solar car project (BSCP). In addition, research topics in active battery-pack balancing, switched reluctance motor modeling and control, and EV torque-vectoring control are currently underway.
